What Is Recovery Dharma?

Recovery Dharma is a peer-led, non-theistic recovery program grounded in Buddhist principles. It supports healing from all forms of addiction: substances, behaviors, or patterns of any kind. Through meditation, the Four Noble Truths, and the Eightfold Path, it creates a community without gurus, hierarchies, or required beliefs.

You don't need to be Buddhist. You don't need meditation experience. You don't need to be "ready." You just need to show up.

What Happens at a Meeting

Never been before? Here's what a typical evening looks like. There's no pressure to share, no sign-ups, and no prerequisites.

Opening Readings

We begin by reading the Recovery Dharma principles together: the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path. This grounds the meeting and sets an intention for the evening.

Guided Meditation

We listen to a 15- to 20-minute guided meditation together. No experience needed. If sitting still is hard, that's completely okay.

Discussion & Sharing

We discuss a topic from the Recovery Dharma book and open the floor for sharing. You never have to share. Listening is just as valuable. Everything shared stays in the room.

Fellowship

After the formal meeting, we hang around to connect informally. This is where real community happens: making friends, finding support, and knowing you're not alone.

Your First Step Starts This Week

You don't need to have it all figured out. You don't need to be ready. You just need to walk through the door.
